New Director of the Canton American Legion Band


Gilbert A. Madrigale

Gil Madrigale signed on to direct the Canton Band in October of 2007.
Originally from Erie, PA., Gil enjoyed a stint with the Navy on the Air Craft Carrier USS Tarawa. He found himself in Boston via the Berklee college of Music in 1960.

Gil is a trumpet player, and has a professional diploma from Berklee College of Music, a B.A. in Music Education from the Boston Conservatory of Music, and an M.A. in music Performance - Trumpet - from the Boston Conservatory of Music.

Gil was the Director of Music Education for the Avon, MA. public schools from 1964 - 1970. He then was the Director of Music Education K-12 in the Dartmouth MA public schools from 1970 - 2001, instructing Chorus, Stage Band, Marching Band, and Concert Band.

While Director in Dartmouth, Gil had achieved 1st place honors with various groups at State Marching Band Championships, Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington, D.C., NESBA Championship, Apple Blossom Festival, Winchester, VA., All American Music Festival, Orlando, Fl., just to name a few!

Gil has performed with the Jerry Lewis, Johnny Mathis, Paul Lynde, and Rich Little Shows and a long time trumpeter with the Leon Merrian Big Band in Boston.

We welcome Gil to the Canton American Legion Band and look forward to his adding to the great tradition the band enjoys today.
